During the millennium, when Christ rules on earth, His Church, His redeemed ones, His chosen ones rule with Him. As Revelation 20:4 & 6 assert: “I saw thrones, and they that sat on them, and judgment was given to them . . . they reigned with Christ for 1,000 years . . . they rule with Him for 1,000 years.” This repeats what was said in Rev. 5:9-10: “You have made the ransomed people of God a kingdom of priests to our God, and they shall reign on earth.”
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
How You Respond
In what sense does Christ’s Church judge, rule and reign with Him on earth? Remember, Jesus has all authority in heaven and earth. (Matthew 28:18) The Church serves under His delegated authority using God’s Word. And all people are bound or loosed by how they respond to it. (John 20:23) Proclaiming the Law and the Gospel brings a judgment on all who hear it, and all people sense it’s authority over them, whether they admit it or not. It makes those who resist this authority very uncomfortable, and they try to create “safe spaces” as wide as possible where God’s Word and those who proclaim it and live it are canceled, silenced and and removed from sight. Consider how they responded to Stephen’s testimony: they “yelled at the top of their voices, held their ears shut, and all together rushed him and started to stone him.” (Acts 7:5-58) But Stephen “fell asleep” victoriously, as Revelation 12:11 testifies: “they (faithful martyrs) conquered him (Satan) because of the blood of the Lamb and the truth they spoke and didn’t love their life but were willing to die.”
Do Not Fear
“Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but can’t kill the soul, but fear Him (Christ) who can destroy soul and body in hell.” (Matthew 10:28)
