In OSNAS morning faculty devotions recently Dr. Stelzer (Willie to me) stated that everyone believes in life after death, even atheistic evolutionists, who believe billions (trillions? gazillions?) of years ago life sprang from dead matter and has since evolved into all the existing life forms. It’s a great leap of faith based on no evidence whatsoever. (No one has ever reported to have seen any of this happening.)
Eyewitness Reports
Christians’ belief in Christ’s resurrection is substantiated by at least 500 witnesses who saw the risen Christ. (1 Corinthians 15:6) And we have an eyewitness report of all of life’s origin — that of God Himself in the Book of Genesis. In addition, the Creator has provided many parabolic testimonies of life after death, such as the annual season of spring following winter, and apparently lifeless seeds that sprout. (“What you sow does not come to life unless it dies.” 1 Corinthians 15:36) Most spectacularly, there is the ongoing worldwide witness of how the living Christ causes people to be born again and demonstrate a life-changing personal relationship with the living Savior.
Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews. This man came to Jesus by night and said to him, “Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God, for no one can do these signs that you do unless God is with him.” Jesus answered him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Nicodemus said to him, “How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
Both Believe
Bottom line, it takes a lot more faith to be an atheistic evolutionist than it does to be a Christian. Both believe in life from non-life, but the former’s biggest leap of faith is their idea that they will not be raised from death and face Judgment and eternity in Hell. Good luck with that one!
Everyone Believes in Life After Death
I am The Resurrection
The Creator-Redeemer tells us, “A hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear His voice and come out, some to everlasting life and some to shame and everlasting contempt.” (John 5:28-29, Daniel 12:2) As Jesus said before He raised the dead man Lazarus, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live.” (John 11:2)
“At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge.”
